Calls for the 2027 Composer-in-Residence & Ensemble-in-Residence are open through January 1!
Composer-in-Residence & Ensemble-in-Residence applications are accepted year-round. All applications must be submitted on or before January 2026 to be considered for the 2027 Festival and beyond.
Artist Opportunities
Composer-in-Residence & Ensemble-in-Residence Applications (Open Year-Round)
Composer-in-Residence and Ensemble-in-Residence applications are accepted year-round but must be received by January 1st to be considered for the following three years. Applicants are welcome to resubmit updated materials as often as they like, but a new application must be submitted a minimum of every three years to be eligible for consideration.
(Example: Submissions made by January 1, 2026 are eligible for the 2027, 2028 and 2029 Festival Years. A new application must be submitted by January 1, 2027 to be considered for 2028 and beyond.)
International Call for Scores Applications
The International Call for Scores application opens each Spring and closes in early Fall. Applicants submit works new or existing works to be performed by the Ensemble-in-Residence at the Feature Concert during the annual Festival. Applications must be resubmitted each year, and late applications are not eligible for consideration.
Applications for the 2026 Call for Scores are now closed. Please check back in Spring 2026 for details about the 2027 applications.

Music Marathon Applications
Performers are invited to submit an application for the in-person and virtual Music Marathon. Applicants of any gender are welcome to apply, but must submit programs of works by women-identifying composers to be performed during the annual Festival. Applications must be resubmitted each year.
The deadline for submissions for the 2026 Music Marathon was 11:59pm Eastern Time on Friday, October 3, 2025.
Late applications may considered on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of WCFH.

Scholarly Symposium Applications
Presenters are invited to submit an application for the Scholarly Symposium. Applicants of any gender are welcome to apply, but must submit presentation topics that feature research connected to women-identifying composers to presented during the annual Festival. Applications must be resubmitted each year. Late applications are considered on a case-by-case basis.
The deadline for submissions for the 2026 Scholarly Symposium was 11:59pm Eastern Time on Friday, October 3, 2025.

Composition Workshop Applications
Women-identifying composers are invited to submit an application for the Composition Workshop. Selected composers will be paired with an advisor who will provide feedback and suggestions on a work in progress, culminating in a live workshop during the annual Festival. The Ensemble-in-Residence will perform the work as part of this live workshop. Applications must be resubmitted each year. Late applications are not eligible for consideration.

Helpful Tips
- Our applications are now a one-step process. Please read all instructions on the application form carefully and complete all required sections.
- All scores must be uploaded in PDF format only.
- Audio recordings can be submitted in MP3, WAV, ACC, FLAC, or AIFF formats.
- Pre-recorded video submissions can be submitted in MOV or MP4 format.
