Nicholas Smolenski

untitledNicholas Smolenski is a graduate student in musicology at The Hartt School, University of Hartford where he is advised by Dr. Karen Cook; he holds a bachelor’s degree in music performance from Western Connecticut State University. His research focuses on sacred music of Jacobean and Caroline England, specifically on the anthems and services of Thomas Tomkins; other research interests include aesthetics and philosophies of music in Renaissance England. He currently teaches undergraduate music history for The Hartt School as a graduate teaching fellow and for the Performer’s Certificate Program at The Hartt School Community Division.
